TCNJ is conveniently located in the mid-Atlantic region of the country and is easily accessed by air, train, car, or bus. TCNJ is located in the township of Ewing, which
is nested within the historic Delaware Valley, and is situated between Trenton (5 mi) and Princeton (7 mi). TCNJ is located very near to Philadelphia, Newark, New York City, and the state of Delaware. In addition, TCNJ is at the crossroads of several major roadways: 3 miles from Interstate 95; and within 20-minutes each from the New Jersey Turnpike, Pennsylvania Turnpike, Interstate 195, and Interstate 295. The college’s great location also provides a terrific opportunity for MARM Conference attendees to bring along their families and combine a vacation at any number of locales in the region. Come for the conference, stay for the weekend!
Moreover, from a professional and intellectual perspective, TCNJ is within a 60-mile radius of over 70 leading institutions of higher education and a dozen major foundations, and it is just a few miles away from a major high-tech and pharmaceutical corridor (“Einstein’s Alley”). New Jersey is a world leader in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals (the biopharma sector). In addition, many of the nation’s largest biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and chemical companies maintain facilities in New Jersey, and several of those companies have their world headquarters in the state. All of these factors, combined with easy and accessible travel options and the other cultural, artistic, historical, governmental sites and attractions in the area will make your stay revolutionary for MARM 2022.
Parking on campus for the Summer of 2022 is free and no tags are needed.

I’m looking for Poster and Oral Presenter information.
Please click on the technical program button and there is a link to guidelines for posters. We do expect posters to be posted all day with the evening reception as a second chance for people to visit your poster again. Poster presenters should make themselves available during the evening receptions to network with additional people.
How much and where do I park on campus?
All parking restrictions on the TCNJ campus have been lifted for the summer. Parking is Free! You can park in any of the student lots on campus. Any faculty/staff lots that have the gate up is ok to park. We have arranged to have all the common gates up and we will address as needed during the event.
When will I receive a text for the vaccination card?
ACS is using a new vendor, Clear, to check for vaccination cards and the process has changed. The third party vendor will check for vaccination status. Attendees will show the clear pass to get their registration materials. This is a trusted identity validator used by TSA and multiple conferences.
If an attendee has questions or concerns, please email marm2022@tcnj.edu. We will try to get back to you as soon as possible.
Will there be a hybrid option for the conference?
There is no plan to switch to hybrid or virtual. The organizers have decided that many options exist already for hybrid and virtual attendance. Our region has not had an in person full conference for many years and that in person component was important to the organizers. We believe an in person conference can be held safely if masking and vaccinations are the norm. Virtual conference can be done successfully as the Delaware Local section demonstrated in 2021. Hybrid conferences are very difficult to achieve with the people power available from the Trenton ACS board. With the current covid numbers, high vaccination rates in our community, and the effectiveness of masking, we will not postpone the conference.
Is vaccination required for the conference?
All campus attendees will be required to be up to date on all their vaccinations by two weeks before the start of the conference (May 18, 2022).
Will masking be required for the conference?
The pandemic has been rapidly changing and the world is understanding better how to find the new normal. As of May 25, 2022, masking will be strongly recommended. This is a mask friendly event so we should be masking to protect others as much as possible Attendees with higher risks are encouraged to use high quality masks like KF94, KN95, and N95 masks. We will have some N95 masks, donated by the TCNJ Chemistry Department, available in BSC101, the Operations Room.
What are other COVID-19 guidelines?
The conference organizers are closely watching the recommendations for in person participation at the national meetings. We strongly recommend social distancing as much as possible. Outdoor venues for networking and eating will be available. Please use them to your comfort level.
Will there be outdoor venues for eating or networking?
The organizing committee is having outdoor venue options for attendees. Tent are being rented for shade and inclement weather.
Why is the conference registration so much more expensive than the last couple of MARMs?
The last few MARMs were smaller with programming over a day or so or completely virtual, we were modeling other regional meetings like the Hershey MARM and SERMACS. When the Trenton ACS and The College of New Jersey placed the bid for the MARM, we imagined a different experience with extensive networking over meals and at receptions for plenty of engagement in a wide range of technical programming. All meals during the conference are included and the model is similar to other conferences like the CUR meeting, ACS Leadership Insitutue, Gordon Conferences, and BCCE. With the lowest price campus housing for 3 nights, the conference is an absolute deal for both students and professionals! No need to find time or places to get food, everyone is in one place on campus! We can’t wait to come back to in person activities in the safest manner possible!
What are the housing options for MARM? What is this family housing? What can my family do while they are here?
We have low cost campus housing options that will reduce the need to drive. We have also contracted multiple hotels in the area to offer alternatives for attendees who want more flexibility or a more traditional conference housing experience. The family housing is designed for those with families to offer a place to stay and eat on campus. Guests and kids can register for the meeting and can participate in the food/networking with the conference attendees. For your families, TCNJ is located close to the Jersey shore, the Pocono mountains, and various small towns nearby such as New Hope/Lamberville New Jersey. We are also close to Sesame Place, Six Flags Great Adventure, Diggerland, and so much more for those family activities! Many of the MARM 2022 board members have young children so we are happy to point you into the direction of activities in the area!

Abstract Submission to be open January 24, 2022, with a deadline extended to March 14, 2022
It’s time to submit your abstract.
The American Chemical Society’s Meeting Abstracts Programming System is open from January 24, 2022 – March 7, 2022. We’ve had an amazing response for abstracts. Some groups are asking for just a bit more time, so abstract submission is extended to March 14, 2022! We would love to see in progress work too, this conference might be the jump start to get your work moving with some feedback with chemists in the region!
We will be fully in person! We can’t wait to see you and your science at MARM! We will be taking precautions to make the conference as safe as possible including all attendees showing proof of up to date COVID-19 vaccinations and large open spaces for networking and meals. Outdoor spaces will be utilized as much as possible! We will be following or exceeding all local mandates on masking, cleaning, and testing. In the abstract submission process, please disregard language about a hybrid meeting, the organizers are working with ACS to remove that language. We are committed to have a safe, in person meeting!
Undergraduates: Consult with your research mentor to submit a poster or an oral presentation.
The Universal Display Corporation and the Trenton Local Section of the ACS have made donations to support student attendance to the MARM. Details will come out soon on how you and your institution can get support!
